Currently I'm in the process of fixing glitches and re-animating...pretty much the entire thing, but we'll see how it goes. Updates from the last two weeks: This week, I first went back and revisited some of my old animatics and research, and watched some more sumo. I was having a lot of trouble balancing intensity with how quick a real sumo match. As a result I redid all of the animation from scratch-- the timing still needs to be fixed but I'm much happier with this iteration (as wonky as it is). TL;DR I shortened the match and tried to just focus the on the energy before and after it (since that's how it seems IRL), taking mainly from the moment of intensity before the charge. Things done (and minor issues) this week:
Additional sumo watched this week This week:
Problems:
Lighting/Render Tests: (I accidentally saved over the first few images so this is closer to final lighting, though still need to tweak) Displacement maps: (Zbrush stopped working 'cause of the license thing so I couldn't take screencaps) Details on peach pits in Maya Issue with the sand-- rings are barely visible The details on the pits are actually a bit more shallow than they should be as well Kind of what it should look like ft. horrifying high-poly obj
A little behind thanks to the previous week, but going at a decent pace?!? Things done this week:

Feedback from Animatic V05
Based on the feedback I scrapped the little peach and did some new brainstorming for the winning peach-- I'm likely to go with one of the flatter ones (I'll be going with the bottom left one for now until I get more feedback) to contrast against the other one, plus I can kind of imagine how it would move (kind of like a hula-hoop spinning against the ground). As for the faces, I took a look at some wrestlers as suggested.
Below are the images I referenced, as well as images from the references suggested by my peers. I'll be posting the new animatic in a separate post! |
